It depicts a … Read more A large original cloth painting by listed artist Alison Cann-Clift ( Ali ) titled Circus: Practice Mats. It depicts a scene of several circus tents with performers outside practicing their routines, one walking a tightrope while others juggle balls on the mats below. Original works by this artist rarely appear on the secondary market outside of art galleries, you may find a few small serigraphs and prints here and there, but this is your chance to own a large original, not to mention an original created very early in the artists career, circa 1971-72. It is accompanied by the original certificate of authenticity from when it was purchased at an exposition in 1977, as well as other documentation including a recent August 2024 appraisal listing an insurance value of $36,000. Additionally two books on the artist will also be included, "Beyond The Big Top" and "Paintings of the Last Decade".

About the Artist - Ali Clift is a graduate of Tufts University (1968-71) and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston 1967-72). Her unique and mysterious cloth paintings are delicately crafted using fabric with her first cloth paintings having been inspired, technically, by a picture composed of small cloth pieces on display at the MFA.

Approximate Size - 34 inches by 42.5 inches with the frame measuring 39 inches by 48 inches.
