The book is divided into sections century, starting with "Pre 1600" and then moving to the present "1600-1700" "1700-1800" etc.
At the start of each century section there is an introduction detailing the evolution during that time period of each type of furniture: Chairs, Desks, Sofas, Tables, etc.

Each century has an exhaustive collection of photos and descriptions, 4-8 images on each double-page t=spread with hundreds of pages. Page count: 1700-1800 = 130pgs, 1800-1900 = 120pgs, 1900-1999 = 90pgs

An appendix offers a very informative chart specifying the different eras and styles by which monarch ruled at the time, and numerous builder diagrams.
