17th Century French Louis XIII - Candelabras With King's Musketeers (Mousquetaires Du Roi) - a Pair.
A Grand Pair of 4-Light: High - Quality Bronze Castings, chasing and gilding, Guilt Bronze Candelabras, French, 17th Century ( 1645' s ).
Matched pair except one having a male Grenadier in bronze at base and the other a male Musketeer in bronze at base.
Statues rest upon ornate mythological claw-footed plinths.
History:
The Musketeers of the Guard (French: Mousquetaires de la garde) or King's Musketeers (Mousquetaires du roi) had the full name - Musketeers of the military household of the King of France. (Mousquetaires de la maison militaire du roi de France) They were an elite fighting company of the military branch of the Maison du Roi, the Royal Household of the French monarchy.
