The "Madison" sideboard by De Coene Frères, made in Belgium in the 1960s, is a rare beauty. The top and sides feature warm but subtle walnut, drawing your eyes to the wild, bookmatched rosewood grain patterns on the front.
The top section of the piece offers four drawers with concealed handles. Above the center drawer sits a cork beverage board, complete with brass knobs, that can be pulled out for when you need additional surface area.
The door panels below open on piano hinges to reveal three cabinet spaces with adjustable shelving. The insides of the door panels are finished in a glossy black lacquer that compliments the horizontal black accent panels on the face.
To our knowledge, none of the Madison sideboards, whether the three or four door build, included a maker's tag.
