This pair of small corner sideboards, in mango wood and teak, have been hand painted with the classic styles of … Read more This pair of small corner sideboards, in mango wood and teak, have been hand painted with the classic styles of Indian decoration. Imported around the early 1950s, they were made at the end of the 1940s for production destined for rich Western markets. The two corner cupboards, almost identical in shape, have complementary colours. One in shades of dominant yellow, the other in shades of red, they are however based on an ebonized background. The colors are bright and lively in the first, and warm and amber in the second. The vintage condition is very good and a conservative restoration and shellac has been carried out. See less
