Not to be taken too seriously, there is a bit of whimsey with a cat looking out from between of the rectangles.

The subject of the painting is probably not apparent to most viewers. These are laundry basins in a public open air laundry. in the city of San Miguel de Allende in the state of Guanajuato, Mexico. Such open air laundries were once common, not only in Mexico, but many countries before households could afford an electric clothes washer for their home. At the time this image was recorded there was a lone woman washing her clothes.

The artist, whose signature is in the lower left corner, mixes styles from minimalist like this example to realism in his paintings. Continuing to experiment keeps his work fresh and exciting. See less
