"Marché aux Poissons" by Durand Louis, 1955.
This beautiful artwork was painted by Durand Louis in 1955. This particular piece depicts the famous fish market in the Mediterranean town of Nice (in south-east France). Born at the beginning of the 20th century, Durand Louis became one of France's leading Mid Century impressionist painters.
Stand and stare at this painting long enough and its rich textures and tones draw you in. I can look at this painting for hours!
Oil on canvas, it has a black wood composite frame which measures: 21 3/4" height x 25" width x 1 3/8" depth. The actual image measures 17 3/4" height x 21" width.
It weighs 4lb 4oz.
Written on the back in pen it says "Marche aux Poissons Nice 1955 Durand-Louis". A sticker on the back (below writing) tells us that later in its life this painting was framed at the "Memento" framing company in Santa Monica.
This beautiful painting is a real collectors piece and will be the talk of any room it finds itself in.
