Their brilliant forms consist of metal base support posts that would radiate from the ground upwards towards the saucer disk shaped shades fabricated from thick matte fiberglass impressed with dark green translucent color creating a brilliant sculpture of form and space all very well engineered and assembled. The varigated molded matte fiberglass technique is identical to the process originally used by Zenith Plastics to create Charles Eames iconic "Shell" chair designs for Herman Miller during the same era. Due to the intended "outdoor" usage of this design and their exposure to harsh natural elements there are very few survivors of these style lamps from the 50's era...added the exceptional condition of this mostly unused pair and you will not likely see something like this again! These stunning garden lamps are in exceptional original vintage condition and appear to have only been used briefly retaining their sublime original brilliance, completely intact and fully functional. The thick molded dark green fiberglass shades are stunning and free of any obvious exposure wear or blemishes while the base post hardware is equally as clean and blemish free with just light natural tarnish patina from age. Heavy Duty outdoor wiring & porcelain sockets are original and have been inspected to be clean, safe and fully functional.
