They went out of business … Read more Very nice vintage piece from Rockford Chair and Furniture Company and made in Rockford Illinois. They went out of business in 1949, so this piece is older than that. We are guessing 1940's era. It has a nice dark walnut finish with legs that are reminiscent of Jacobean or William and Mary Style. The face of the desk is hand painted green with a raised gold gilded outline or Asian pagoda and tree scenes with black outline (almost a modernist or mid century modern style of art). It is accented on 4 corners with a carved brass triangular accent and is framed by small wooden rosettes that look like tiny buttons. The drawer is one single drawer even though it presents itself as a double drawer. You will see a light floral painting on the drawer face by each drawer pull. The face folds down to present a solid and sturdy work surface with cubbies, drawers, and two storage areas with blind doors. It looks like they may have had a key at one time but now they just open and close with a light touch. The back is stained but not furniture grade finished as this is made to be placed against a wall.

44" overall height 33" width at the base of the legs. 31" width in the middle. Main section depth is 15.5" and 13" in the top section. Desk height is 27" when opened. Desk writing area is 27" wide and 17" deep.
