Short history: Founded in 1921 by Guido Bitossi, Flavia Montelupo produced traditional Renaissance-style maiolica and terracotta wares up to the Second World War.
From 1946 to 1976, under Aldo Londi's artistic direction, the factory collaborated with several outside artists, including Ettore Sottsass, Remo Buti, Marco Zanini, and Matteo Thun.
Starting in 1976 the factory produced high-quality commercial ceramics for the Rosenthal Studio, under the name 'Ceramiche Flavia'.
In the 1980s Giovanni Masone took over as artistic director, inviting the members of the Memphis Group and Piero Fornasetti to collaborate.
