Anoush Rahnavardkar (1924-1983), familiarly know as ANOUSH, was an renowned Iranian artists in his native country, were he worked as both a sculptor and a painter. His paintings figured in several royal collections and they adorned some of the royal palaces and public spaces.
He traveled to Europe and the United States on several occasions to study the masterpieces found there. Nevertheless, he developed and maintained his very individual style notable for the use of clumps of paint allowing that medium to take on a sculptural quality on the two dimensional canvas. His favored subject matters included still lives, pastoral scenes peopled with local characters as well as idealized female portraits and portraits of dignitaries such as the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Iran at the time.
The genuine gold leafed frame is a very befitting addition that enhances the overall visual experience.
