* The dancing faun or satyr is the most famous find from the excavations in Pompeii in 1830 - because this expressive sculpture stood in the center of the Casa del Fauno, probably the most magnificent residential building in the city and adorned the atrium of the palace of Publius Sulla, the nephew of the great general and dictator Sulla
