Born in Neuchâtel, Herzog developed a profound appreciation for natural landscapes, which became the central theme of his artistic career. His works often feature serene depictions of Swiss locales, such as Lake Geneva and the Dents du Midi mountains. In addition to his Swiss landscapes, Herzog explored orientalist themes, creating scenes inspired by Eastern cultures. Herzog's paintings have been featured in various auctions, reflecting their enduring appeal among collectors. Notable works include "Glérolles Castle with Lake Geneva, Saint-Saphorin, mountains" (1900), an oil on canvas that captures the tranquil beauty of the Swiss landscape.
