Stoneware salad bowl signed Alain Magne - La Borne
Large salad bowl in chocolate and honey tones
Alain Magne (1952-2014) was a renowned French ceramist, recognized for his significant contributions to the art of ceramics in France. At the age of twenty, he chose to become a potter, abandoning a career in industry. He trained in the workshop of Pierre Digan and Janet Stedman, thus acquiring solid skills in his field.
In 1977, Alain and his wife Chantal settled in La Borne, a hamlet near Neuilly-en-Sancerre, known for its rich pottery tradition. In their workshop in La Brossarderie, Alain devotes himself to turning the pieces, while Chantal takes care of the glazing and firing. Their production is distinguished by pieces in pyrite stoneware, partially glazed with ashes, often fired in wood, reflecting a natural and authentic aesthetic.
