Berber Kilim Rug, Floor Cover, in Wool Made of 100% wool, the thread is not dyed, leaving the black tone only to the thread used to enrich the rug with the typical symbolism of nomadic tribes. Over the centuries, the softness of untreated wool has made it the best solution for sleeping and covering yourself from the harsh cold of the desert. The same Berber knotting, which has made Beni Ourain rugs famous for their resistance and softness, was created precisely to make the rug warmer and usable on both the front and back.
This is a modern revision dating circa 1980 of the Kilim Ourika from the Atlas Mountains of the Berber tribes in Morocco; a faithful recovery from remote times with the same ancestral techniques of these Tribes from washing to cording to spinning; what distinguishes this beautiful kilim is the refinement in the design; the dance in the wefts is an ancient expression in the weft where the weaver reveals her mastery in the execution of the carpet; in the world of oriental weaving this technique is called Abrasce which means weft villages.
The Story of Afolki
Afolki was born from the entrepreneurial dream of Mohamed El Alami, who grew up in the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, where he assimilated the essence of Berber culture. with the founding of Afolki, Mohamed brought the timeless charm of Berber carpets, Tuareg mats and Moroccan rugs to Europe, becoming a point of reference for interior designers and architects looking for authentic and refined handmade carpets. Our Berber rugs and our Tuaregh mats are not simple furnishing accessories; they tell ancient stories that continue to inspire the greatest contemporary creatives.
