This rug's design bears a strong resemblance to marriages of open field and medallion style, though keen eyes will admire a fine, subtle lattice of geometry in the field of gold and beige-brown tones instead. The borders and floral medallions enjoy brick red and teal blue tones, which underscore a variety of floral patterns and even primitivist motifs in a most interesting combination. Namely, while the field had a more European sensibility in its choice of vase pictorials (sometimes seen in Kerman Lavar, Tabriz and similar provenances), the borders favor a more archaic version of the paisley motif (sometimes called its "scorpion" variant).
