Carlo Marchesotti was an Italian-Argentinian sculptor born in Italy in 1944 and died in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1988.
After settling in Argentina and becoming an Argentinian citizen, he studied at the Manuel Belgrano National School of Fine Arts. From 1967 onwards, he participated in solo and group exhibitions in Argentina and Italy. He exhibited at the Mutuality Salon for Fine Arts Students and Graduates in 1977, the Santa Fe Salon in 1971 and 1977, the National Salon in 1978, and the Pinamar Encounter in 1978. Among his distinctions, he received the Correa Morales Prize for Sculpture at the Municipal Salon in 1969, the Ministry of Government Prize at the Santa Fe Salon in 1971, first prize at the San Fernando Salon in 1974, first prize at the National Salon in 1978, and the Grand Prize of Honor at the National Salon in 1979. Marchesotti worked primarily with Carrara marble from the province of San Luis.
