Sakes alive, the illustrations and photos within this collectible historical book are a delight!
Only today I learned:
“Beatrix Potter used a secret code to write in her journal, which she kept from the age of 15 to 1897. The code was a cypher-coded alphabet that only Potter could understand.
AND: As codes go, Potter's wasn't inordinately complicated. As Wiltshire explains, it was a “mono-alphabetic substitution cipher code,” in which each letter of the alphabet was replaced by a symbol—the kind of thing they teach you in Cub Scouts.”
Haha, what a cool kid she was!
