This 18th-century Chinese export teapot is a fine example of early porcelain craftsmanship. The teapot features a rare drum-style shape with a beautifully twisted handle and a spout that gracefully extends, creating a balanced and elegant silhouette. Measuring 5" high, 9.5" handle to spout, and 5" in diameter, it is a substantial and collectible piece.
There are imperfections in the glaze, consistent with 18th-century production techniques. Despite its age, the teapot is free of chips, cracks, or repairs. The painted decoration is visible but noticeably worn.
Chinese export porcelain was highly prized in Europe and America during the 18th century for its beauty and craftsmanship, and this teapot exemplifies why it was so sought after. Today it is a perfect piece for collectors of antique Chinese porcelain and tea wares.
