This black-and-white photograph, taken in 1952 in Paris along the Seine River, captures a tranquil and picturesque moment. In the foreground, a man wearing a light-colored straw hat and dark suit leans on a stone railing, overlooking the river. The composition guides the viewer's eye toward two men standing on the cobblestone riverbank below, engaged in casual fishing with a rod. In the background, the iconic Pont Neuf bridge spans the Seine, adorned with ornate details and a circular relief. The scene is framed by the play of light and shadow, with tree branches and leaves adding a natural element to the urban setting. Erich Andres was born in Germany in 1905 and passed away in 1992. He began his career as a photographer in 1920 and was one of the first to use a Leica camera. Today, his work is exhibited in several museums, including the Civil War Museum in Salamanca, Spain, the Olympic Museum in Lausanne, Switzerland, and the Industrial Museum in Oberhausen, Germany. In 1951, Andres contributed to Edward Steichen's iconic exhibition "The Family of Man" at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The print is new, a Fine Art Print on high quality paper (Hahnemühle FineArt Baryta) printed by Whitewall. It comes to you in a tube. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
