The Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari is Italy's fourth-largest opera house and a beacon of Southern Italian culture. Opened in 1903, the theater is celebrated for its opulent "Stile Liberty" (Art Nouveau) interior, featuring a massive 23-meter dome and tiers of boxes lavishly decorated in pure gold and vibrant red velvet. After a devastating fire in 1991, the theater was meticulously rebuilt and reopened in 2009, restoring its status as one of the most prestigious stages in Europe.
Richard Silver’s photograph highlights the breathtaking red-and-gold symmetry of the auditorium, capturing the palpable history of a venue that has hosted everyone from Pavarotti to Frank Sinatra. This fine art print is an elegant choice for a formal dining room or a luxury lounge, offering a window into the dramatic soul of Italian opera.
