It's called … Read more This is a gorgeous oil painting that I purchased almost 20 years from from the prestigious Papillon Gallery. It's called "Pink Slip" and it has always been a favorite of mine and visitors to my home. (They always gravitate toward this piece amongst the dozens of others I have -- including pieces "worth" 10 times more.)

It has just enough flesh and attitude to be sensuous and sexy but it would also be entirely appropriate for any family's home. It's not a "pin-up" -- it's a fine art depiction of a beautiful woman and it's large enough to have a wonderful impact.

Howard Clapp (1920-1991)
Clapp was born in California. He became an active watercolor painter in the Los Angeles area where he taught that method and lectured on art history. He served three terms as president of the California Watercolor Society, and in the 1950s exhibited with that organization.

Clapp studied at the University of California at Los Angeles, and from his years as a student developed an abstract style focused on architectural subjects.

It would seem in his early years he was influenced by the Askcan artists like many young Post World War two artists, and later was more attractive to the California watercolor style. See less
