A sublime pair of solid korina wood lamps designed by Arthur Jacobs for Modeline of California, the standard bearer in … Read more A sublime pair of solid korina wood lamps designed by Arthur Jacobs for Modeline of California, the standard bearer in mid century modern lighting. This pair was acquired from the original owners, who bought them new in the 1960s. Their design evokes a combination of Piet Modrian’s compositions and traditional Japanese shoji lanterns. At 39 inches high, they can be used as either floor or table lamps.

When we acquired these lamps, the original side panels were cracked, the wiring provided intermittent function, and the original dimmer switches had been swapped out and didn't match from one lamp to the other. Given their distinct Japanese aesthetic, we replaced the panels with imported shoji paper, which provides perfectly diffused lighting. The dimmer switches and wiring have been professionally replaced as well.

These lamps are difficult to find alone and nearly impossible to find in pairs. We're delighted to present them for sale for the first time since their original purchase in the mid 1960s, sourced from a beautiful mid century home in La Cañada. See less
