John Board (British, 1886-1975)
Born in Torquay on January 15th, Board was at one time a tea planter in Ceylon, and for many years, polo correspondent to The Times. His drawings were direct and he had a good understanding of horses, painting most equestrian subjects but particularly polo and racing as well as marine scenes. He worked in pastels and in oils, and wrote and illustrated several books.
