The ball feet are original, as are … Read more A rare Dutch painted bible box with wonderful paintings of birds and garlands. The ball feet are original, as are the iron hinges. The piece is structurally sound. There are losses to some of the paint surfaces. The Dutch in the 18th Century were very religious. In most households the Bible was a very prized possession and was kept in a box. Most of the boxes were plain oak and it was very unusual to find one painted. See less
