Description: Portrait of a Seated 18th Century English Gentlement by John Hoppner (1758-1810) A gifted painter enterted the English Royal Academy School in 1775, he later received metals of honor in 1778 and 1782. Known as a prominate Portrait Painter, he worked for Queen Charlotte; was succeffively Portrait Painter (1789) and Principal Painter (1793) to the Prince of Wales, and he was patronized by the Carlton House Set.
