"the space between" is a unique charcoal drawing on paper. Scottish artist patsy mcarthur captures the dynamic movement of the swimmer against an urban backdrop. This monochromatic artwork captures a striking scene of a lone swimmer battling through turbulent waters, which dominate the foreground with dynamic, swirling patterns. The artist skillfully employs shades of gray to convey movement and tension. Overhead, dark leaves frame the scene, adding depth, contrast and framework to the composition. In the background, a hazy city skyline emerges, suggesting a juxtaposition between nature's raw power and urban resilience. The use of light and shadow is masterful, with reflections on the water creating a sense of immediacy and drama. This composition invites reflection on the struggle between human ambition and natural forces, making it both thought-provoking and visually compelling. "the space between" is offered with a custom white box wood frame, all archival materials, and comes ready to hang. Scottish artist patsy mcarthur explores the grace and power of human movement in her naturalistic drawings and paintings. Her latest works, including small ink studies, charcoal and graphite drawings, and large oil paintings, convey a palpable sense of strength and athleticism, while also evoking a transcendent quality in the depiction of the human form in various states of suspension, from leaping and soaring, to flying and falling. Above all, a feeling of freedom is carried throughout. The artist studied painting in aberdeen in the northeast of scotland at the gray's school of art, where she received an honors b.a. In fine art. She was awarded the royal scottish academy john kinross scholarship to study abroad in florence. In 2001, mcarthur completed her m.a. In european fine art from the winchester school of art in barcelona. Mcarthur has lived and worked in australia, spain, china, berlin and new york and is currently based in brighton, uk. This multinational perspective is reflected in her work by her striking ability to capture the universality of human emotion. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
