An extremely rare outdoor lamp, so-called mushroom lamp from Bega, designed in the 50s.
It emits a pleasant and indirect light and sets accents in the garden or on the terrace.
These lights were often used outdoors and were heavily exposed to the weather. This meant that only a few copies were preserved.
The two lamps we offer are almost identical, but come from different years of production, which can be seen in the attachment of the lampshade and the workmanship of the two-tube arm.
This lamp is obviously an earlier variant, as the upper arch of the double-tube lamp arm was welded on and the bracket is riveted to the lampshade.
In 1952 Bega exhibited at a foreign trade fair for the first time. Such a large, closed collection of outdoor lights has never been seen in Europe. Bega received the “Medaille d’Or” at the International Trade Fair in Luxembourg in 1952.
This type of lamp - also available with 2 or 3 shades - is presented in a Bega garden and street lamp catalog from 1950. Used primarily in gardens, on terraces or mini golf courses.
At the 1958 Expo in Brussels, Belgium, these lights, equipped with 3 shades, were used in the outdoor area of the Canadian Pavilion.
The lampshade is made of painted aluminum, the arms are made of painted metal, the base is made of cast iron.
To ensure a stable stand, these lights were screwed onto a base (stone, marble, concrete). Here we have installed adjustable feet on the existing mounting holes.
It is marked BEGA 170 under the cast base.
Height 72cm
Diameter of shade 45 cm
