All of this and more is incorporated in this three dimensional framed art piece entitled ‘Moments Quickly Passed: French Countryside’. From far away this piece looks like a patchwork of fabrics but it is actually a watercolor painting layered with applied rolling hills, houses, trees and clouds that appear to be a clay-like polymer. In addition, there is a textile picket fence with tiny plastic horses and cows grazing and prancing through the meadows. Honestly, you just want to step inside and enjoy the bright Day-glo colors and the peaceful surroundings…plastic animals and all! The other unusual element of this piece is the framing. The simple gold aluminum frame is accented with a matte gold wood cut out that almost looks like a face and spectacles. It is backed by a piece of clear vinyl to protect the art. Signed by the artist in the lower right corner…artist info unknown. Outfitted with wire for hanging. The original owner paid $300 most likely in the 1980’s.
