Scallops have long symbolized pilgrimage and were a common motif in the Spanish missions of California. The plaster mold captures the intricate ribbing of the fan-like half shell and is reminiscent of lighting by Serge Roche, an early 20th century french decorator. It accepts 1 candelabra (E12) light bulb that provides uplighting over the opaque fixture.
