Already one-hundred and twenty-five years ago the world's first aerial photograph was taken from a hot-air balloon over Paris. In Sweden the first aerial photograph was taken forty years later. For more than fifty years the Geographical Survey Office, known today as the National Land Survey has been responsible for the aerial photography program in Sweden which is the basis for the vertical and oblique products. Since 1978, municipal, national and private demands for better planning data has involved the taking of more than 5,000 oblique pictures per year. Up to the spring of 1984 the number of oblique photographs in our archives had grown to 50,000. See less
