Made with handwoven wool, this 12x14 rug is an exciting new addition to Rug & Kilim’s Scandinavian rug collection—a contemporary reimagining of Swedish minimalism and vintage rugs and textiles of Rollakan and Rya traditions.

On the Design:

Tones of black, gray and aubergine purple underscore geometric patterns in rows of serrated stripes and squares. Admirers of the craft will note the blend of undyed, natural yarns complementing the varied hues with a striated, abrashed look; a proprietary technique that both innovates and honors mid-century weaving techniques inherent to Scandinavian style.

Our flatweave’s more durable, weighted body is also a hallmark of the collection, made for high-traffic and heavy-furniture spaces. This, alongside several elements detailed here, represent R&K Principal Jahanshah Nazmiyal’s hope to honor this mid-century modern aesthetic. His Scandinavian Collection is a contribution to that style, and a renaissance for its designs with more comfortable, current techniques.
