This stunning and dynamic white porcelain sculpture was realized by the esteemed artisan Karl Ens in East Germany, circa 1930. It depicts two galloping horses- a stallion and a mare- in white porcelain with gray-blue eyes, offering the only flash of color. They are connected to a sculptural base with foliate detailing supporting the faunal forms. With its nearly monochromatic palate and graphic composition- full of life and movement- this piece would be a winning addition to any style of interior from traditional to contemporary. It is marked on the bottom "ENS" and retains its original sticker reading "Made in East Germany". It is in excellent condition.
East Germany, circa 1930
