"The Looming Grater" Painting

My favorite part of this painting, that makes the whole thing sing, is the reflected color of the orange spreading … more My favorite part of this painting, that makes the whole thing sing, is the reflected color of the orange spreading around it. This was painted from direct observation in the studio on prepared (gessoed) paper, then after mounted on board and cut to fit into a custom, maple, contemporary, wood floater frame.

I always analyze my still life after I do them. I initially place the objects intuitively. Then afterwards think about those choices like a reading of where my life is at. This one titled the looming grater, life's problems up against us. The us - is maybe my husband and I, two separate fruits- different in flavors - both bright in different ways.
