The first five years of Jo Hammerborg's 23-year reign as head of design at Fog & Mørup were the most creative of his entire career. In this period he redefined the F&M brand and put into production 24 of the approximately 60 light designs he would eventually create for the company, one of which was the Orient. Produced in two sizes – the Major and the Minor – the Orient remains one of Hammerborg's best loved and most recognised designs. This original vintage Orient Major in copper and ebonised wood is in excellent vintage condition with almost no damage and a degree of patination appropriate to a copper lamp of its age (see photos for details).
The lamp has a diameter of 38 cm and a height of 34 cm and comes complete with plastic glare-softening louvre. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
