Mid-Century Modern 1970s walnut and burlwood Neoclassical Revival inspired framed mirror. Because of its commanding proportions and its brown wood versatility this mirror will easily find placement in most areas and for many needs in a home of office. This stately traditional French inspired mirror can be hung as a pier mirror or maybe as the piece de resistance fireplace mantle top depending on the ceiling height. It can serve as a first impression entry or foyer mirror just as purposely as you might hang this above a family room console cabinet or dining room buffet, office or library room credenza, or in the bedroom above the dresser or low chest of drawers. It has a pagoda shaped top crest with a lovely bronze toned metal Italian Renaissance influenced ormolu that is horizontal more than it is vertical.and is located above the rectangular mirror bound in a trimmed framed area top and center. Its adorned with a Greek lyre or hand harp and is flanked by trumpets that form a centerpiece steadied by an empire themed shelf that's draped in floral chain garland. The face of the frame has a selective raised gold leaf highlighted piping style of stacked and layered trim moulding which adds a rich multi-dimensional depth to the overall visual. Its weight and thick proportions infer strength and command respect. It's more contemporary than historic and is intrinsically stately in the traditional sense.
En verso we note that the frame is solid wood and the mirror section is guarded by high density fiberboard. There is no makers mark displayed but the following manufacturers notes are stenceled vertically and haphazardly that read: L - 471-2G MIR. The numbers 354 are hand written in Blue Pencil or crayon preceding the proprietary factory code. There are two hardware loops that only need to have hanging wire attached in order to hang.

The wood has a few small nicks but commensurate and go largely unnoticed. Price of the unit reflects consideration for this. less
