An outstanding pair of finely carved S-scroll form giltwood pilasters, each fronted with carved acanthus detailing and hand-carved polychrome cherub heads. Decorated overall with original gold and silver leaf, showing a beautifully aged patina consistent with late-18th-century European craftsmanship. Likely German, circa 1780.
The backs retain their original construction and early surface, and the fronts display richly layered carving typical of ecclesiastical or architectural interior ornamentation of the period.
