Delilah, patinated bronze sculpture: bust of a woman, very expressive and realistic of the biblical character
Delilah is a female character known from the Old Testament, mainly for being the lover of Samson, with extraordinary strength; she will obtain and reveal to her enemies the secret of Samson's strength.
Delilah puts Samson to sleep and cuts his hair, leaving him betrayed and at the mercy of the enemy tribe.
This sculpture is signed by Picault, Made in Tunis
Emile Picault (1833-1915): French sculptor frequently exhibited at the Salon des Artistes between 1863 and 1914,
His work is rich in busts and foot sculptures of mythical or warrior characters.
Good general condition, normal wear to the patina, an old restoration on the back of the base
