“Shame” is what is called a “diary painting.” For 16 weeks, paint was added to this canvas in unexpected ways, starting with mark making and continuing with whatever colors I happened to be working with. Beneath the layers lived flowers, wild, random markings, and a portrait. The object of a “diary painting” is to teach us that nothing is precious, to make that next mark, and move on. As I continued to get on with it, I liked the sliver of portrait and added two words about putting down “Shame.”
This painting was telling me, shame has no place in our lives. You’ll see lots of textures and layers, reminding us of our journey. Edges are painted white, matte varnish, artist signature bottom left, wired and ready to hang.
