A large early 19th century French terracotta pottery Biot jar in classic shape with aged patina and a few large drips of ochre glaze. Interior and rim have pale yellow glaze with minor losses. Three small holes in bottom. Hand formed using the ancient technique of rope thrown pottery, these jars were used to preserve and transport olive oil and were produced in the village of Biot, in Provence.

Bottom: 9.5" Diameter
Weight: 45 lbs.
Three holes on the bottom for drainage.
