Item description:
Beautiful, elegant thermal teapot in white hard-paste porcelain with third-fire glazing, covered with a metal shell with hook closure, signed under the base of the teapot with the Bauscher Weiden mark, place of manufacture "Bavaria, Germany," and under the metal shell with "DRP" engraved.
These types of items are very rare and sought after in the collectors' market, as they are the first "thermoses" made in the past.
Useful information for evaluating the item:
From an internet search, we find that teapots similar to ours, from the same manufacturer, which are honestly much less beautiful and younger than ours, dating back to the 1950s-1960s, are offered on the most important online art and antiques sales platforms for between €150 and €300 each, while 1930s Art Deco teapots, like ours, range from €400 to €600 each.
Information about the artist and/or manufacturer:
In 1881, brothers August and Conrad Bauscher began producing tableware in Weiden with 70 employees. From the outset, they specialized in sturdy, functional, and durable products for the hotel and restaurant industry. From 1887, all Lloyd ships in northern Germany were equipped with Bauscher porcelain. The manufacturer opened its first branch in New York in 1895, followed by two more in London and Lucerne in 1900 (today, Bauscher Weiden exports half of its total production to over 120 countries). More than 1,200 employees now produce for distinguished customers such as "Auerbachs Keller" in Leipzig and "Waldorf Astoria" in New York. Bausch accounts for 98% of all hotel porcelain imports into the United States.
