Artist's mannequin. It was used for ancient Japanese armor. Modified by the Ferrara artist GIANNI CELATI. Acrylic colors on fabric and wood 2008 - h 170 cm
Biography: Gianni Celati (1936 - 2022), graduated in accounting and obtained a job in a bank, but his true passion and aptitude was for art and, in the spaces that his work allowed him, he drew, painted and took part in competitions and exhibitions, activities that led him to decide to dedicate himself entirely to art. He left his job and enrolled at the Venturi Higher Institute of Art in Modena and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna where he had Guidi and Mastroianni as teachers. In 1962 he moved to Rome: in those years rich in experiences and significant encounters such as De Chirico and Gentilini, he worked as a set designer at the Opera Theater and was hired in an advertising graphics studio. But the forced rhythms of the advertising world do not make the development of his art possible, so much so that he decides to accept a job as an art teacher and abandon advertising. Since then he has combined this profession with his artistic activity, organizing personal exhibitions in Italy and abroad, obtaining critical and public acclaim. At the beginning of the 80s he resumed his interrupted sculptural activity; in his exhibitions you can in fact admire both the painter and the sculptor, in a harmonious compendium rich in different sculptural materials, paintings and graphic lines.
