He trained at the Barcelona School of Fine Arts and, throughout his career, developed a technique that fused the color and light characteristic of Impressionism with greater structural solidity and a realistic approach typical of Post-Impressionism.

Planas Doria stood out mainly in portraiture and landscape, his works being recognized for their vibrant chromatic quality and attention to detail. In his landscapes, a clear influence of the painters of the Catalan school and the natural environment of his region is perceived, often represented with a light and an atmosphere that evoked the modernity of his time. Throughout his life, he participated in important exhibitions and was a reference in Catalan painting at the beginning of the 20th century.

His style evolved towards a more nuanced and thoughtful approach, which allowed him to capture both the beauty of nature and the emotional complexity of human portraits.
