Handwoven in wool, this vintage 5x7 Turkish tribal rug originating circa 1950-60 is a grand new entry to Rug & Kilim’s repertoire of mid-century rugs.
On the Design:
Admirers of Caucasian carpets will note an exceptional Kazak design inspiration, likely from those belonging to the late 19th century. Particularly special is the rich saturated color, where red, yellow, green, and blue tones underscore a play of medallions and other tribal geometry at play. The rug’s geometric patterns—including large-size rectangles, chevrons, ram’s horns and other nomadic motifs—play a look of all over and medallion style together, with bright and vibrant primary colors and sharply woven latch hooks (also inspired by the works of the aforementioned provenance). There's exceptional yarn at work here, and some of the most delicious and vivid colors alike blend to craft a tribal masterpiece. A gracious rug with a cultured personality, well suited for a wide array of decor possibilities.
Condition:
This vintage Turkish rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin, and is ready for the floor.
