i quote j-m doix himself: “it was a high school drawing teacher who introduced me to ceramics very early on as well as the contemporary art center at the château de ratilly (89) run by the pierlot family. It was there that i discovered, among others, the works of hamada and leach and i chose to become a potter.

from the start i gravitated towards a production that was familiar to me, the poyaudine tradition and popular art. I make raw or slag-enamelled pieces but my attachment to other cultures has never been left behind, my catalan origins perhaps explain my taste for baroque exuberance and glazed earthenware, a technique that i i developed alongside my high temperature work.
