Originally designed to store “tabac râpé” (a finely ground snuff tobacco), this striking jar showcases Royal Tichelaar Makkum’s hallmark Delft patterns, featuring intricately hand-painted blue motifs and delicate ornamentation. Adorned with the official Royal Tichelaar Makkum mark, this piece is a testament to the Dutch brand’s legacy as the Netherlands’ oldest ceramics company, founded in 1572.

The tobacco jar has been expertly transformed into a table lamp complemented by a custom-made pleated lampshade, crafted from a vintage Indian silk sari. The deep blue and rich red tones of the shade echo the jar’s intricate designs, while the fine pleating adds texture and refinement to the overall composition.
