The mirrored surfaces of the stainless steel Maldonado work of art, reflect the world around. Maldonado's artistic research has an ethological matrix: a sign as a kind of pre-Incan glyph, an "S" traced at right angles, almost rational in its symbol's linear simplicity. For a particulary modern esthetic mode of working, the Ecuadorian Estuardo Maldonado was stimulated by the antique predisposition for the ideogram, aiming at deepening the essential themes of contemporary research. Estuardo Maldonado was born in Pintag (Ecuador), in 1930. He studied under Hans Michaelson at Fine Arts Academy of Guayaquil and then he gave courses at the American College. Following graduation in 1957, he obtained a government travel and study grant from Ecuador after which he traveled in Europe. He eventually remained in Italy and attended the Rome Fine Arts Academy. In 1966 the Ecuador Government named him Commissioner for its pavilion at the 33° Venice Biennale where he also partecipate as exhibitor. He has executed many paintings and sculptures projects integrated with architecture. A copy of Estuardo Maldonado catalogue will be enclosed price included. One of 300 specimens.
