A handsome pair of Indonesian Plantation or Planter’s chairs typically used by Dutch planters. t
They are the epitome of stylish colonial design. Perfect for those who are seeking the elegant colonial interior look. These woven rattan chairs are one of a kind. The frame is made of solid teak and the original Dutch seals are displayed on the arms of both chairs.
It is believed it is named after the planters who owned tea and sugar-cane plantations; however, the precise origin is rather ambiguous. Additionally there is a retractable arm on each side for resting one’s legs (shown in the images). The long arms of the chair also double as a foot rest as it was typical that a servant would assist in the removal of the planter's boots as he propped up his feet. These flat arms along with the sloping back are the distinguishing features of the planter’s chair.
