He is standing on a sphere and holding a torch, which is surrounded by three curving candle branches. The branches are decorated with flowers and scrolling foliage, and they are symmetrically interspaced around the central stem which is topped with a flame. The piece is supported by a vase-shaped stem decorated with scales and palms, all of which rests on a square, ormolu plinth. Original gilt, circa 1820. Dimensions: w 7.5 in, d 5.5in, h 20.5in.
