Fernand LANTOINE studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he met Paul Signac, whose neo-impressionism would mark his later production.
In the artistic melting pot of Brussels during the Belle Époque, he first depicted street and cabaret scenes, as well as landscapes of Belgium.
Having become a marine painter in 1922, Fernand LANTOINE then made frequent trips to North Africa, the Belgian Congo, Madagascar, etc.
His Africanist works were very successful.
He took part in numerous exhibitions during his career: Salon des indépendants, Salon des artistes français, etc.
Several institutions own his paintings: Musée national des arts d'Afrique et d'Océanie, Ministère de la Défense, Musée des années 30, etc.
His best works can be negotiated for several tens of thousands of euros ($82,000 for riders in the Aude in southern Morocco).
